Jim Williams was a celebrated Australian luthier who was known for his wonderful acoustic guitars, carefully crafted from the finest of materials. Unfortunately in 2018, Jim passed away leaving behind his legacy of fine guitars scattered across Australia and around the world. Jim's production was limited as the guitars were all handmade, adding to their quality, appeal and rarity.
This particular guitar is one of Jim's dreadnought guitars - the WD40. The guitar is loud, resonant and bright with a Martin type feel and sound, it has a powerful bass to low-mid punch mixed with sparkling top end clarity - reminiscent of some of the nicer Martins we have played here at PG.
The guitar has a nice chunky 'C' profile neck that is smooth and clean, giving you something to hang onto when strumming away! It has East Indian rosewood back and sides and a solid spruce top - these nicely aged tonewoods add to this guitars distinct voice and sustain.
This WD-40 displays some player wear and the odd bump or bruise from its years of service. The frets have very little wear, the neck is straight, truss rod functions well and the tuners hold tune nicely. It is equipped with a L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup which really brings the guitar to life - in our opinion, the Anthem pickup system is one of the premium acoustic pickups on the market due to its dual microphone setup and blending abilities.
This Jim Williams WD-40 is the type of guitar you can't put down - it insists that you keep playing with its unbelievable tone and playability. It presents as a rare find, due to the scarcity of these guitars, and of course, they are no longer in production.
Pick up a rare piece of Australian guitar history in this wonderful specimen.
Comes with a gig bag in good condition.
