Vintage Fender Telecaster Bass '51 Reissue - USA 1970
Pickup currently unavailable
The Fender Telecaster Bass, introduced in 1968, was a tribute to Leo Fender’s original 1951 Precision Bass design. It marked a return to the slab-body aesthetic, single-pickup simplicity, and the unmistakable butterscotch blonde finish that defined the first-ever electric bass guitar. This example is a unique combination of vintage Fender components, featuring a 1968 body, a 1970 neck, and original 1964 pots, blending eras of Fender craftsmanship while staying true to the instrument’s classic character.
This Telecaster Bass retains its original pickup and electronics, delivering the signature warm, punchy, and articulate tone that defined early Fender basses. The single-coil pickup, mounted in the middle position, offers a deep yet responsive low end with a rich harmonic presence—perfect for vintage blues, rock, country, and soul tones. The sound is woody, percussive, and dynamic, with a natural resonance from the solid ash body.
The 4-bolt maple neck has a classic chunky "C" profile, providing a substantial feel that suits both finger players and pick users. The wear on the neck gives it an effortless, broken-in playability that only decades of real use can create. The butterscotch finish has aged beautifully, giving it an authentic, time-worn aesthetic.
This bass is in good player-grade condition, showing some wear, but all cosmetic. It retains its original pickup and pots, ensuring a truly vintage tone. The pickup cover is missing, but this does not affect functionality. It comes with a non-original hard shell case for protection.
This is a rare opportunity to own a Fender Telecaster Bass with a unique blend of vintage Fender parts, offering authentic vintage tone, solid playability, and undeniable mojo. Whether you're looking for a studio workhorse or a stage-ready relic, this one delivers in both sound and style.
