SOLD - Vintage Fender Stratocaster – USA 1976

This is very nice 1976 Fender Stratocaster in good condition and with a few nice upgrades.

The pickups are active EMGs, and they roar. They are clear and bell-like down low, but when you hit the “go” button, well – look out. There is a mid boost control which seriously thickens the sound to approach the humbucker zone if you need it. And even without the boost, they are super punchy and have a nice clear and percussive sound to them, giving this guitar a bold sonic presence. And they are completely noiseless.

One of the more famous advocates of EMGs is Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour who famously installed a set in his Strat in the early 80s. Not a bad sound you’d have to say …

The finish is Fender’s Vintage White which has mellowed nicely to more of a creamy white – looks great. (There is some light reflection in the pics, but the finish is consistent with very little fading). The black pickguard with white knobs are stock and typical for 1975-1977 Strats.

The neck has a somewhat U-shaped profile and is fitted with its original medium jumbo frets which have been dressed and are showing only minor wear and plenty of height.

The tuners have been replaced with quality Gotoh (we think) closed back units. The nut has been replaced at some point. All other hardware appears to be stock.

All in all, an excellent Strat from the mid '70s that plays like a dream. It features all the standard Stratocaster features from the era plus some seriously good pickups. It is one of the smoothest playing Strats of this era we have encountered.
