Gibson Chet Atkins SST - USA 2001
Pickup currently unavailable
From Gibson:
‘In 1987 Gibson also introduced the Gibson Chet Atkins SST; a steel string solid body acoustic electric guitar, with a single cutaway, transducer pick up, active bass and treble controls and fitted with gold hardware.
The Gibson Chet Atkins SST featured a simulated soundhole and a plain headstock with no logo until 1993, when the soundhole was removed and the headstock took a more modern look with a star logo. The SST uses a chambered body with a Balsa center block and a bridge transducer with onboard electronics’
Features:
This beauty is owned by a high profile Australian artist, and has been played live for many performances across the globe with an iconic Aussie rock band.
The guitar presents in great condition, there isn't a heap of player wear, the frets are in top shape and there is only the odd tiny nick or dent in the top. The back does display some buckle rash but nothing offensive. The neck is nice and clean only enhancing the playing ability of the guitar, and some of the gold hardware is tarnishing slightly which we thinks adds to its appeal.
This SST has had an aftermarket pickup installed on the top. It is a “subtle“ electric pick up to match the look of the Chet as a fail safe option if the battery went dead in the old standard wiring, plus a much more solid battery housing than the original plastic unit has been added. The aftermarket pickup has a volume knob adjacent to the original controls.
This is a really cool Gibson Chet Atkins SST sporting a classic Ebony finish. A killer sounding, stage ready acoustic/electric with marvellous tone and remarkable playability.
Comes in its original Gibson hard-shell case.
