Greco
Greco Zemaitis GZ-2600IF – Japan 2004
Pickup currently unavailable
From the ‘Zemaitis Club’:
‘Tony Zemaitis the British luthier became a legend in his own lifetime. The favoured guitar maker for such stars as Ronnie Wood, George Harrison, Eric Clapton… the list goes on. He pioneered hand-crafted guitars – producing beautifully decorated acoustics with phenomenal sustain and tone; stunning electrics with engraved metal or intricate pearl inlayed fronts; and all were such great guitars to play! These instruments are truly “Art with Strings”.
Zemaitis Guitars have attracted more famous players than any other UK maker. With most of the UK guitar industry established in a tradition of ‘small makers’, rarely having an impact internationally, Tony Zemaitis was the one to buck the trend – amazingly he achieved all this while working alone, producing only a handful of hand-made guitars each year.’
This guitar is one of the early Zemaitis copies made in Japan by Greco under licence from the Zemaitis family, as opposed to the originals made by Tony Zemaitis in London or the later ones that are now made in Korea.

This is a really interesting guitar, with its very own unique look and style. There is fantastic detail with the intricately engraved areas on the headstock and the printed areas around the pickups and on the stop bar. The fretboard inlay is lovely and correlates nicely with the bordering of the top and the ‘Zemaitis’ iconic 4 diamonds design.
The guitar plays very well, with plenty of neck room to crank out those face melting solos! The original pickups sound great, with plenty of versatility in tone.
This guitar certainly has been played, showing some signs of player wear. There are small dings and scratches around the body of the guitar, but nothing too offensive. The neck has a few dings in it as well towards the body, but doesn’t affect the playing quality of the guitar.
Overall, a unique and great playing guitar. It’s versatile and will certainly stand out in a crowd. Definitely worth a look!
Comes with its original gigbag.
