SOLD
The Rickenbacker 4001 was manufactured by Rickenbacker as a two-pickup "deluxe" version of their first production bass, the single-pickup model 4000. This famed design, created by noted luthier Roger Rossmeisl, was manufactured between 1961 and 1981, when it was replaced by an updated version dubbed the Rickenbacker 4003.
The iconic upper bout and headstock silhouettes of the Rickenbacker 4003 are the most salient characteristics of the 'crested-wave' body shape. The 4003 features a neck-through construction, a full-wood body, gloss coated fretboard, twin truss rods, triangle inlays, two pickups, two volume and two tone controls, selector switch, and wiring for Rick-O-Sound (standard after 1971).
This bass is in near perfect condition with shimmering Jetglo black finish. It was purchased new and brought over from the US in 2008. It has only been played on stage once and other than a few small marks below the bridge at the edge of the lower bout the instrument has almost no signs of wear.
