Founded in 1998 by boutique amplifier craftsman Steve Carr, the Pittsboro, North Carolina company has always had an affinity with the classic amp tones of earlier days. His desire to not only capture the clarity and cleanliness of the era but also afford it the headroom it deserves, has earned him praise across the industry. Guitar Player said the Rambler’s ”layout and wiring are absolutely flawless.” While Russel Calso in JazzTimes noted the “top-notch craftsmanship, hand wired electronics and thoughtful, well-researched design.”
The Rambler combo is a perfect example of the fantastically executed homage to the rich and crisp tones of yesteryear while still maintaining a versatility that stretches easily into today’s tonal demands.
From Carr amplifiers –
“Long before the birth of Carr Amplifiers, I spent years playing, repairing, modifying and intently listening to classic guitar amps. The Rambler was one of my earliest signature designs, and today it is still one of our most popular models. Why? It's no accident that the Rambler succeeds in delivering classic American 'deluxe' tone with dramatically expanded clean headroom, solid bass response and the option of 28 watt pentode or 14 watt triode operation. The Rambler simply reflects my desire to improve and refine the original concept of an appropriately powered 1x12 club amp with reverb and tremolo. Rambler owners describe their amps as being warm, full and round, with a surprisingly high threshold of clean tone, (which also makes the Rambler uniquely suited to virtually any overdrive pedal ever built). The Rambler is considered by many to be the quintessential club amp, voiced to meet the needs of virtually any player, and all types of music.”

Founder Steve Carr said of the company: "We try to figure out the great things about forties, fifties, and sixties amps and throw in some new twists. But our amps don’t have a whole lot of knobs or switches. They’re super-useful but very simple."
This amp is in superb, as new condition. Not a mark or blemish to be seen anywhere.
This one was purchased new from a Sydney retailer in 2009. It has had its transformer changed to 240v, and has been serviced by Sydney amp guru Martin Kell.
It has been used since new in a home studio environment, and looked after very well by a meticulous owner. But it is such a versatile and great sounding amp – it really deserves to heard out in the wild!
