Fender Custom Shop '57 Champ Combo - USA 2009
Pickup currently unavailable
The Fender Champ is a guitar amplifier made by Fender between 1948 and 1982. The Champ has the lowest power output and the simplest circuit of all the early Fender tube amps. The Champ has only one power tube, which means that the circuit is single-ended and Class A. Five watts and the simple toneful circuit has made the Champ an all time favourite in recording studios.
This is a 1957 Champ reissue crafted by the wonderful crew at the Fender Custom Shop - and what a fine job they have done!
This Champ presents in great condition. Original speaker, and all internal circuitry. This is an export model, so the voltage is the original 240v. The grill and tweed are in excellent shape with only the odd mark here and there. Cosmetically this looks the goods, with plenty of vintage vibe - displaying nicely tarnished metal on the control plate.
This is a great little amp that sounds warm and fat but with that classic Fender sparkle on top. The breakup is early and throaty, blooming into an aggressive bark as the amp is opened up. All controls are fully functional.
The Champ is renowned as the absolutely perfect bedroom amp and a fabulous recording accomplice.
