Fender Custom Shop Telecaster Thinline Closet Classic – USA 2005

Here is a very unique Telecaster from the Fender Custom Shop - a Fender No-Caster meets Thinline meets Closet Classic! 

The "Closet Classic" finish is a type of relicing, designed to replicate the look of a guitar that has been stored in a closet for years and only taken out occasionally. It features a black finish with visible wood grain, as well as some light wear and tear on the body and hardware. 

The body of this guitar is semi-hollow, with a mahogany core and maple top and back. This design gives the guitar a warmer, more resonant tone than a solid body Telecaster. The neck is also made of maple, with a maple fretboard and a comfortable “U” shape. 

This Custom Shop Telecaster Thinline comes equipped with a Custom Shop "Twisted" Tele Single-Coil pickup in the neck position and a Custom Shop Broadcaster single-coil pickup in the bridge position. These combine to deliver a classic Telecaster twang with a little extra warmth and depth thanks to the semi-hollow body. The guitar also features a three-way pickup selector switch and traditional Telecaster controls for volume and tone. 

Other features of the 2005 Custom Shop Fender Telecaster Thinline Closet Classic include vintage-style tuners, a three-saddle bridge, and a custom pickguard with a single-ply parchment finish.

This guitar is in showroom condition. It is 18 years old, but you would not know it. No wear on anything except some light pickmarks on the guard and the light relic’ing. No changes, modifications, no issues. 

And at 6.39lbs it is very light, and accordingly acoustically loud and lively. The hollow half body above the bridge and pickups certainly adds a lovely “woody” dimension to the tone. Feels like once you strap this one on, you’ll play it all night.
