Vintage Epiphone Wilshire - USA 1966
Pickup currently unavailable
The Epiphone Wilshire was produced by the Epiphone company from 1959 to 1970. During this time, there were several variations of the Crestwood Custom produced, with changes made to the body shape, hardware, and electronics over the years.
The Wilshire is known for its unique and distinctive tone, thanks in part to its two mini-humbucker pickups. The pickups offer a slightly brighter and clearer tone than standard humbuckers, while still providing plenty of output and sustain.
The mahogany body and neck help to produce a warm and rich tone. The Tune-o-matic bridge provides solid intonation and even with the Maestro, the guitar stays in tune nicely.
The double-cutaway design of the Wilshire allows for easy access to the higher frets, making it a popular choice among guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, and Frank Lero. The guitar's unique and eye-catching design, with its 'batwing' headstock and distinctive body shape, also adds to its appeal.

This Epiphone Wilshire is one cool bit of kit! The guitar is light, acoustically resonant and feels great in the hand - it plays beautifully. The frets have very little wear, intonation is great with no buzzing or dead spots all the way up the neck. The original mini-humbuckers sound fantastic with plenty of punch and clarity.
This Epiphone presents in its original (faded) cherry finish. The CTS pots are marked 1966 confirming the guitars heritage.
This is a great example of Epiphone's golden era - a rare and collectable guitar that looks the business, and sounds and plays wonderfully.
