Vintage Gibson ES-300 - USA 1946
Pickup currently unavailable
For sale here is an eye catching, beautiful sunburst 1946 Gibson ES-300 in great condition. Its striking sunburst nitro cellulose finish has aged into a gorgeous amber tint making this beauty extra special.
This guitar shows moderate lacquer checking. The pickguard has been replaced. The side bout on the treble side has a non-professionally repaired crack and has non-professional finish touchup. The side is cracked by the input jack. The back of the neck in the playing area has been non-professionally refinished. A strap button had been replaced on the heel of the neck and a screw hole remains in that position. The tailpiece appears to be a slightly later replacement. Although it is a Gibson style tailpiece, there is evidence of a screw hole from a previous tailpiece. The tone and volume knobs with no numbers with high-top clear barrel shape are typical of the period.
With the exceptions noted, the guitar conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with 17 inch wide non-cutaway full depth hollow body constructed of laminated maple, mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with white binding and pearl double parallelogram inlays, single bound peghead with script Gibson and crown shaped pearl inlays, Kluson Deluxe tuners, white binding on the top and back edges of the body, and sunburst finish.
This 1946 Gibson ES-300 is a very fine utility instrument that would excel in professional use on stage or in the studio.
Comes in non-original Gibson hard-shell case with a comprehensive assessment from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN.
